Preparing Files for Embroidery: A Production Checklist
By Monk Vector Works Team · April 30, 2026 · 8 min
Embroidery is unforgiving of artwork that wasn't built for stitching. Strokes thinner than 1mm won't satin cleanly. Text smaller than 5mm becomes a blob. Overlapping fills create thread buildup.
Before sending to your digitizer, weld every overlap, simplify nodes, and convert text outlines to paths. Set Pantone callouts on every fill so thread-matching is mechanical, not guesswork.
A 15-minute prep upstream saves an hour of digitizer rework — and a re-stitch on the customer's garment.
